Bruce Blomstrom was honored by the Southern California Biomedical Council (SoCalBio) at The Athenaeum on March 7, 2018 for his contribution to the growth of the biotech community in Los Angeles and Pasadena. Since 2004, Mr. Blomstrom served as President of the Pasadena Bioscience Collaborative, an incubator for over 20 early stage life science companies. Through his role as a member of the Board of Directors of the SoCalBio, he has been a passionate and vocal advocate for the biotechnology sector and the opportunities it poses in Greater Los Angeles. As a member of the Pasadena Angels and through the Annual SoCalBio Conference, he helped nurture and fund numerous emerging biotech companies including Infinite Biomedical Technologies, Ikona Medical Corp., Nanostream, Chemokine, and others.
Previously, Mr. Blomstrom was involved in the management of major healthcare organizations including Abbott Laboratories (Japan, South Africa, Southeast Asia), Fresenius Medical Care, Sunrise Medical, UniHealth, and Alpha Therapeutic.
Mr. Blomstrom served on the Board of the USC School of Gerontology and was a member of the Pacific Council on International Policy. He has been active in many MIT alumni organizations/committees Mr. Blomstrom has published articles in the Harvard Business Review and the Journal of Marketing. He has B.S. and M.S. degrees from MIT.
